Rain dampened the anticipated showdown week in the M Street Softball League's American division as league leaders Bobby Ford Club and Teamster's Pub were washed away in scheduled games.

In the National loop, Old Towne Tavern and the Y.I.P. club have climbed past Triple O's into first place as that circuit is turning into a six team scramble for the four playoff spots as the season passed the midway point.

Shamrock Pub, off to a shaky start, got back together to scoot by Old Harbor with a flurry but then suffered the fate of having a no-hitter tossed at them by Old Towne's Ed Bonano, a win that liftd the Old Towners into first. the Y.I.P's stayed right there with beatings of Rabbit's and Manning's while a key Triple O's - Old Harbor contest was rained out.

With half the schedule wiped out, the few games that were played did little to change the standings. In the American, Murphy's Electric chalked up two wins in a row, topping 210 Club and Broadway Haircutters. Canava's toyed with 201 while the Square Cafe 'triple played' the Knights from any thoughts of getting their first win ever in the league. The Bayside Club then mauled the Knights to take over the top spot by one point.

In the National, Shamrock caught Old Harbor, Y.I.P's skinned the Rabbit's and Old Towne squeezed past Manning's.
