Amrhein's Restaurant had taken a two-game lead over Pleasure Bay Lounge by 4-2 and 5-4 victories in the final playoff of the South Boston Softball League as the Tribune went to press. One more victory would clinch the series for the Amrhein team.

Pleasure Bay is not to be counted out, because it will have Bob "Chick" Noonan, the league MVP, on the mound in the critical game

Jack Fennessey came through with the big hit, driving in two runs, in the first game, while Jackie Farrell homered twice to capture the second. Bob Lancione has been outstanding on the mound as he pitched back to back 4-hitters.

Prior to the final series, Commissioner Ray Flynn and League President "Bucky" Feeney presented "Chick" Noonan with the MVP trophy for his outstanding year.
