For the third consecutive year, Pleasure Bay Lounge finished first in the South Boston softball League, this year with a 18-3 record.

Bob "Chick" Noonan, with a 15-1 record and a 0.95 ERA, was the mainstay of the PBL pitching staff; he also hit in 15 consecutive games during the season.

Other heavy hitters for PBL included Bob Dunkle, who belted a home run which measured more than 300 feet and which many claim is the longest distance they have seen a softball travel. Bob Orton, Jimmy Ridge and Bob Monteith were all above or near the .400 mark all year.

Standouts defensively were Jim Buresh, 2nd base; Kevin Toomey, 1st base; Hank Quigg, 3rd base; and Bob Prendergast, all-star catcher. Player - manager Billy O'Neil hit at a .380 clip and pitched fine ball while Noonan was sidelined with an injury. Bobby Sullivan was a stand-out in right field and a constant clutch-hitter.

PBL will be out to win back the playoffs, which were taken by the Italian-American Restaurant in 1971, as they take on Old Town Tavern in the first semi-final series. In the other series, I.A. will meet Amrhein's, the third place finisher.

All play-off games will be staged at Lee Playground, starting at 8pm.
