Johnny Wallace remarked last Thursday evening that the crowd that turned out to watch the all-star game was the largest crowd seen at M Street park since the late great baseball immortall, Babe Ruth, made an appearance. Wallace a Boston firefighter, should know what he is talking about, because he lives right across the street from the park.

The game itself was a complete one sided affair, as the City Point all-stars buried the Lower End all-stars. The outcome was never in doubt as the potent Point hitting attack took advantage of a couple of miscues on the part of the Lower End infield.

Bob "Chick" Noonan was his usual self as he limited the Lower End to just one hit in three scorless innings. Mickey Roache picked up in the fourth where Noonan left off.

The league playoffs are going on as the Tribune went to press. Games will be played Monday-Friday at 6:15pm at M Street park. League president Ray Flynn promises the spectators the finest in softball competition.
