By the time you read this article, games four and five would have already ben played. Depending on the outcome, game seven (if necessary) is scheduled for Friday at 7:30. Do not miss out! Also, tonight at 7 pm, the field is reserved for a charity softball game benefiting battered women. Singer, Michael Bolton will be among the players involved.

Last week's article failed to recognize the catcher's of both teams. They are Donald Bolstad (L Street Tavern) and Bob Sweeney (The Abbey). Both of these players are great at what they do. Neither complain about the beating they receive by the foul tips. Bolstad has a quick move to first that has picked off many baserunners. Although don isn't known for his hitting prowess, he has contributed to the L Street offense with some clutch hits in the playoffs.

The Abbey's Sweeney, is the teams infield leader. He assures that the players are focused and ready. His defense has vastly improved over the years and his offense is always worth noting. Bob is strictly a power hitter and is always among the leaders in homeruns.

Here's a get well to L Street Tavern's first baseman Jim Burgio, who is home recuperating from a broken jaw.

Game 1
September 6. Paul Alessi pitched a five hitter as L Street Tavern won the first game od the series 6-2. Tony Jiminez supplied the offense with 2 RBI followed by homeruns hit by Burgio, Marty Jiminez and Bolstad. The Abbey's attack was led by Jason O'Connell's 2 hits.

Game 2
September 7. L Street took game two in a 7-2 win. Again, it was Alessi who dominated in holding The Abbey to just two runs. The game was decided in the fourth when Burgio led the five-run inning off with a homerun followed by key hits from Marty Jiminez and Tommy Reardon. The Abbey's offense was led by Mike Sibert's triple and homerun.

Game 3
September 8. The Abbey silenced the critics tonight when they defeated L Street. Trailing 3-0 after two innings, The Abbey came back to life to take the a 6-3 lead and then held on for the 9-5 win. Abbey pitcher Don Senna limited L Street's offense to just 8 hits. Five different Abbey batters collected three hits each in the win. They were: Scott Grant, Mike Sibert, Jason O'Connell, Bobby Dobay, and Steve Prokop. The Tavern's offens ewas led by Eddie Toland and Jamie Mastro who each had two hits.
