Seapoint Slammers 14 - Ochoa Brew Crew 11

The Seapoint Slammers came out swinging, survived a furious Ochoa comeback, and then delivered the knock out punch in the final frame, taking a 14-11 victory here in game one of the best of five semifinal series.

As some expected, the story of this game was that it featured lots of runs (25) and had many momentum changes. Seapoint jumped ahead early with three runs in the first and eventually carried an 9-3 lead into the bottom of the fourth. Jack Cook had the key hit in the third for Seapoint when he struck a two-run double. However, Ochoa wasn't going away and they answered with a four-run fourth inning, cutting the deficit to 9-7. Seapoint tacked on three more runs in the top of the fifth on a homerun by Ryan Pfeffer, making it 12-7. Ochoa got one of the runs back and trailed 12-8 heading into the bottom of the sixth.

In the bottom of the sixth, Ochoa's first three batters singled which led to another run, 12-9. A sacrifice fly followed and suddenly we had a two-run game again, 12-10. With two outs and Brendan Skehill on first, Kyle White doubled him home to get Ochoa within a run, 12-11. Seapoint's pitcher Pat Pickup, fought off the nerves and retired the number four hitter on a flyball to left, whew!

In the top of the seventh, good teams find a way to support their pitchers and that's what Seapoint did here. Mark Lavalley led off with a single, Colby Fortin (3 hits, 2 doubles, 3 runs) doubled, and Ryan Pfeffer drew a walk to load the bases with nobody out. A sacrifice fly scored Lavalley and a two-out single by Ross Mandigo scored Fortin, making it 14-11.

In the bottom of the seventh, it was last call for Ochoa and back-to-back singles brought the tying run to the plate but Pickup and the Seapoint defense thwarted the attack and held on for the impressive wire-to-wire win here in game one.

Shamrock Pub 2 - Silkworms 10

The Silkworms used a seven-run second inning to draw first blood in their best of five semi-final series against the Shamrock Pub.

In that second inning, the Worms had one out and runners on first and second, when Matt Clark hit an RBI single to make it 2-0. Tom Clark followed by ripping a two-run homerun to make it 5-0. Back-to-back singles at the top of the order brought up Mark Carlson (3 hits, 2 doubles, 3 runs) who singled home another run, 6-0. The rally kept going - Greg Laubenstein (2 hits, 3 runs) followed with a bases clearing double. It was early but one felt like the Worms were in complete control in this one already leading 8-0.

Perhaps Shamrock Pub was still glowing from their previous night's walk-off win against Shea's Tavern and just hadn't recharged their batteries yet. Making matters more challenging was the fact that the Worm's pitcher, Austin Fanning, was nearly perfect through six innings of play - allowing just four hits and no runs.

Finally, in the top of the seventh the Shamrock Pub broke through with a pair of runs but come up short as the Worms take game one, 10-2.

Silkworms 10 - Shamrock Pub 8 *extra innings

The Silkworms are a win away from reaching the finals and they got there by survivng a wild Game 2 comeback. Trailing 6-3 after three innings, the Silkworms slowly turned the game on its head, scoring seven of the final nine runs to defeat the Shamrock Pub, 10-8 in extra innings, and take a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

It was a night of unusual circumstances from the start. With Shamrock's regular starting pitcher Jason Marino away getting married (congratulations!), Jimmy Crowther was tasked with the pressure start. Crowther had pitched just one inning all season before Tuesday night. Across the diamond, Silkworms ace Austin Fanning took the mound.

For the first three innings, it looked like Crowther might pull off the upset. Shamrock quickly got traffic on the bases and then Ryan Black (3 hits, 4 RBI) delivered a two run single making it 2-0. Shamrock tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the third on RBI hits by Will Welch (4 hits, 2 doubles, triple, 2 runs, 2 RBI), Black, and Vin Nardone, making it 6-3.

Both pitchers held serve through the fourth and fifth innings as the game turned to the top of the sixth with Shamrock still leading 6-3. The only fault in Crowther's performance at this point was the number of walks allowed (5).

In the sixth, the Silkworms manufactured three runs, to pull even at 6-6. The inning started off with a walk and a hit combined with a couple of outfield errors and here we were all tied up. Fanning tossed a scoreless bottom of the sixth, it was his third inning in a row of shutting down his opponent.

In the top of the seventh, more walks (10 total) plagued Crowther as the bases were loaded on three straight free passes. Chris Mancini (3 hits) then put the Worms in front with a two-run single to the outfield, 8-6. Shamrock Pub escaped the inning without any further damage.

It was last call in the bottom of the seventh for the Pub. With one out and a runner on first, Jack Schwartz worked a walk out of Fanning, his only walk allowed. Hot-hitting Will Welch then stepped in and delivered another clutch hit, this one an RBI double, 8-7. With the winning runner on second base, Ryan Black connects for his third hit of the game and ties the score, 8-8. Welch, who was on second, was off on the pitch and tried to score from second but was cut down at the plate on a throw from the center fielder to catcher, Steve Lambe, who applied the tag - mercy! When the dust settled, we headed to extra innings.

The Silkworms banged out three straight hits to start the eighth and took a 9-8 lead. They added another run when Matt Clark reached on a fielder's choice, 10-8. Pat Curran (3 hits) and Kevin Terban (3 hits) scored the two runs in the inning.

This time, Shamrock went quietly in the eighth as Fanning retired the side on three fly ball outs. Shamrock will have their backs against the wall for the remainder of the series but something tells me this one isn't over yet.

Ghost Light Tavern 7 - Ochoa Brew Crew 15

The hard-hitting Ochoa Brew Crew came out swinging tonight here in game one as they pounded out twenty hits while cruising to a 15-7 victory over the Ghost Light Tavern.

Ochoa's Dan Metzdorph (4 hits, 3 runs, 4 RBI) was the batting star of the game as he ripped a double and three triples - mercy! Pitcher Kyle White was as good as he needed to be tonight as this one was never close. Reed Parson (2 hits, HR) was the hitting star for Ghost Light who will need to bring their very best in game two in order to extend their season.

Game 2: Thursday, August 20 @ 7:00pm

Ochoa Brew Crew 14 - Ghost Light Tavern 13

The top-seeded Ochoa Brew Crew erased a five-run deficit and scored twice in the top of the seventh inning to edge No. 9 seed Ghost Light Tavern, 14-13, in a wild Game 2 playoff thriller. For the first three innings, this was Ghost Light's game to win. Instead, it became Ochoa's game to steal.

Ghost Light Tavern came out swinging against Ochoa pitcher Kyle White, exploding for eight runs in the first inning. Sam McNulty and Drew Haight each launched a two-run home run as Ghost Light immediately put Ochoa on its heels.

The first of several momentum swings came in the top of the third when Ochoa erupted for seven hits and six runs, suddenly flipping the scoreboard to a 10-9 Ochoa lead.

The home team answered with a four-run third inning of its own, with Reed Parson (3 hits, HR, 2runs, 2 RBI) and Matthew Zirilli each delivering two-run homers. Just like that, Ghost Light had reclaimed the lead, 13-10, and appeared to have weathered Ochoa's biggest offensive punch. That, however, was the last time Ghost Light would score.

With Cam Kelly carrying the pitching duties for Ghost Light, the defense settled down and the game turned into a tense battle of missed opportunities and timely outs. Ochoa scratched across a run in the fourth on a solo homer by Glen Parsons and added another run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Sean Russell, 13-12.

Pitcher Kyle White tossed his third straight scoreless inning and then the Brew Crew's offense went to work in the top of the seventh needing at least a run to keep it going. Brendan Skehill led off with a double and scored on back-to-back miscues by the Ghost Light defense. Brett Krummins (3 hits, 2 runs) then put them ahead with an RBI single, 14-13. Gjost Light escaped without any further damage.

In the bottom of the seventh a leadoff single by Jack Hill gave the Ghost Light some hope. It was short lived though as a fly out to center and then a fielder's choice (Hill out at second) left them down to their final out. White produced a ground ball to first and that was it - Ochoa holds on and completes the two game sweep over an up and coming squad.

The numbers tell the story of two completely different halves of the game: Ghost Light scored 13 runs in the first three innings and zero thereafter. Ochoa scored 10 runs in those same first three innings, then methodically manufactured four more over the final five frames. Ghost had the early knockout punch, but Ochoa Brew Crew had the final word.

Seapoint Slammers 2 - The Greatest Bar 4

Patrick Silk doubled home a pair of runs in the bottom of the first and then The Greatest Bar got an outstanding pitching performance from Devin Jensen (7 hits, 1 earned run) who limited the Seapoint attack while tossing five scoreless innings here in game one.

This one was never in the bag as Seapoint cut the lead in half in the top of the fourth, 2-1. By this point, it was apparent that scoring runs were going to be hard to come by for both clubs. Seapoint's Pat Pickup was working his knuckleball which kept hitters off stride. However, in the bottom of the sixth, Silk and Cory Waslow each ran into a Pickup offering and sent the ball over the fence in left for back-to-back solo homeruns, 4-1.

In the top of seventh, Seapoint got a gift run when Owen Bligh led off with a double and then scored on an overthrow, 4-2. However, Jensen shrugged it off and retired the next three batters to nail down the victory.

Game 2: Wednesday, August 19 @ 9:00pm

The Greatest Bar 15 - Seapoint Slammers 27

The Seapoint Slammers turned a wild playoff slugfest into a runaway victory on Wednesday night which evened their best of three series against The Greatest Bar. Seapoint erupted for nine runs in the seventh inning to put the finishing touches on a 27-15 win.

Pat Pickup handled the pitching duties for Seapoint, while Devin Jensen took the ball for The Greatest Bar in a game that featured big innings, extra-base hits, defensive miscues and enough offense to keep everyone on the edge of their seats. Amazingly, it was the same two pitchers that yielded a combined 6 runs in a well pitched game one the previous night and now here they were getting torched for 42 runs. Yikes! What happens in game three is anyone's guess.

Seapoint struck first in the bottom of the second, sending five runs across the plate. The Greatest Bar answered with two, but Seapoint had established the tone: this was going to be a game decided by which lineup could keep the pressure on. The answer, as it turned out, was Seapoint. The home team erupted for eight runs in the third inning, blowing the game wide open. The inning featured one of the night's signature swings when Owen Bligh launched a home run, his round-tripper providing a huge jolt to the Seapoint attack. With runners continually reaching base, Seapoint took advantage of opportunities and turned a promising inning into an offensive avalanche. Colby Fortin (3 hits, 3 runs, 6 RBI), Mark Lavalley (5 hits, 4 runs), and Mike O'Brien (4 hits) all contributed to Seapoint's cause with a big night at the plate.

However, The Greatest Bar wasn't finished. Trailing 13-5, the visitors answered with a massive eight-run fourth inning, suddenly making it a ballgame again at 13-13. One can blame the errors (5) and walks (3) as the culprit in the dramatic turnaround. Shane O'Halloran, who had a clutch hit in the rally, was the hitting star for The Greatest Bar tonight - 4 hits, double, triple, 4 runs scored, and 3 RBI.

But like The Greatest Bar had done before them, the Slammers answered the challenge showing their playoff mettle. Rather than let the comeback rattle them, Seapoint immediately responded with five runs in the bottom of the fourth, rebuilding the lead to 18-13.

Pickup (allowed just 6 earned runs) and the Seapoint defense then held The Greatest Bar scoreless in the fifth and sixth, giving the offense a chance to deliver the knockout blow. And deliver it they did! A nine-run sixth inning seals the deal as Seapoint saved its biggest punch for last. The lineup repeatedly put pressure on the defense, capitalized on the mistakes and kept the bases moving until the lead became insurmountable. Seapoint's nine-run explosion had turned an 18-13 game into a commanding 27-15 mercy rule victory.

Seapoint Slammers 16 - The Greatest Bar 1

The Seapoint Slammers stormed past The Greatest Bar here in game three and they advance to the semi-finals to face the Silkworms. In a series that could have gone either way, the Slammers saved their biggest punch for the biggest game. It was an all-out offensive attack as they pounced on the Greatest Bar's pitcher, who was forced into action due to their regular staffers (Deven Jensen and Josh Boulos) not being available.

After a quiet first inning, Seapoint quickly found its rhythm in the second and never let up. Ryan Pfeffer got the scoring started when he belted a two-run homerun over the fence in left, 2-0. That would be the first of five home runs Seapoint would hit on the night.

In the top of the third, Seapoint put their foot on the gas and for the most part, they put the game out of reach. Ross Mandigo led off with a triple and scored on Mike O'Brien's (3 hits) home run to left, 4-0. Back-to-back singles were followed by another long ball; this came from the bat of Owen Bligh and it was 7-0. Mark Lavalley delivered another blow when he hit his first of two home runs on the night, 9-0 Seapoint.

Seapoint's pitcher Pat Pickup had a comfortable lead but didn't allow himself to get too comfortable. By the end of the night, Pickup had scattered four hits over five innings while yielding just one earned run. Seapoint advances to the semi finals to take on the top seeded Ochoa Brew Crew while The Greatest Bar has to carry the "what if" scenario into the off season.

Chemist Cocktail Club 17 - Silkworms 9

Matt Devlin (4 hits, 4 runs, 5 RBI) hit a fifth inning grand slam that put the Chemist Cocktail Club comfortably ahead and they cruised to a game one victory over the Silkworms, 17-9.

As expected, Steve Michienzi was on the mound and looking sharp in the early going allowing just two earned runs through the first six innings. Kevin Terban (3 hits, 3 runs, 3 RBI) was the lone hitting star for the Silkworms who will need to rebound in game two.

Silkworms 21 - Chemist Cocktail Club 6

With their backs against the wall, the Silkworms turned a competitive start into an offensive avalanche Wednesday night, rolling past the Chemist Cocktail Club, 21-6, in Game 2 of this best of three series.

Austin Fanning took the ball for the Silkworms and was spotted with a 6-run lead in the opening inning highlited by a Max Hall (3 hits, 4 runs) double. From there, the Silkworms' offense was just getting going which put immediate pressure on Chemist pitcher Steve Michienzi. Chemist answered with two runs of its own on a home run by Scott Holzwasser, but the Silkworms' lineup refused to let up.

After a scoreless second inning, the Silkworms broke the game open with five runs in the top of the third. Matt Clark's (3 hits, triple, HR, 8 RBI) triple gave the Silkworms an 11-2 advantage. The fourth inning delivered another five-run outburst by the Worms, Chris Macni's two-run blast was the key hit in the inning. Chemist mounted its biggest offensive response of the night with four runs in the bottom of the fourth, cutting into the deficit and briefly giving the home team some momentum. It didn't last.

The Silkworms answered with another five-run fifth inning on Matt Clark's grand slam which gave him 8 RBI's on the night. That was more than enough for Fanning (just 3 earned runs allowed) and the Silkworms defense that shut the door, completing the 15-run victory and forcing a decing game three tomorrow night.

Game 3: Thursday, August 20 @ 845pm

Chemist Cocktail Club 10 - Silkworms 11

The Silkworms, the No. 3 seed, survived a furious late-game fight from defending champion Chemist Cocktail Club, the No. 6 seed, to win the deciding Game 3 by an 11-10 thriller-and they did it with the season hanging on one swing. With the score tied 10-10 in the bottom of the seventh, Max Hall delivered the championship-clinching blow, ripping a three-base hit that brought home the Chris Mancini from first and sent the Silkworms into the semi-finals.

It was a back-and-forth M Street playoff classic with the Silkworms striking first, putting two runs on the board in the opening inning which gave pitcher Austin Fanning an early cushion on the mound. Chemist couldn't answer in the second, and the Silkworms added two more runs in the third to stretch the lead to 4-0.

The defending champions came roaring back in the bottom of the third, cutting the deficit to 4-3 on homeruns by Matt Devlin and Miles Coe. Suddenly Chemist had all the momentum heading into the fourth-inning explosion. They rallied for six more runs on six hits including homeruns by Matt Devlin, Scott Holzwasser, and Jacob Berish and Chemist was ahead 9-4.The Silkworms answered with three runs of their own, making it 9-7 on RBI hits by Tom Clark, Connor Whooley, and Fanning. After a scoreless fifth inning, Chemist got one of the runs back on a solo homerun by Jordy Allard (3 hits, HR, 2 runs), 10-7.

For the Silkworms pitcher Austin Fanning, it was a serious test of composure. For Chemist hurler Miles Coe, the defending champions had finally given their pitcher a three-run lead but the Worms refused to fold. The Silkworms struck again with three clutch runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game, 10-10. With runners on first and second and two outs, Fanning drew a HUGE walk to load the bases and bring up the top of the order. Jared Bacon answered the call with a massive two-run single making it 10-9. Mark Carlson tied the game with another RBI single. Coe and Chemist got out of the inning on a ground out to second. It was onto the seventh.

In the top of the seventh, Fanning retired the 5-6-7 batters in order and now the pressure was squarley on Coe and the Chemist defense. It wouldn't be on for long though as Chris Mancini led off with a sharp single. Max Hall then came through with an RBI triple to drive in Mancini and ending the series at the most dramatic possible moment. Hall's triple was the final blow in a game that featured seven lead changes and a deadlocked 10-10 score entering the final frame. The No. 3 seed Silkworms knocked off the defending champions-and did it on the final swing of the series.

Shea's Tavern 10 - Shamrock Pub 12

Will Welch and Vinny Nardone each hit a three-run homerun that put Shamrock Pub comfortably ahead 9-2 after four innings of play. However, Shea's Tavern sprang to life in the top of the fifth when they sent nine men to the plate while scoring five runs. Garrett Colantino (2 hits) delivered a key double in the uprising.

Pitcher Will Murray then threw a scoreless inning to keep his club close. Brendan Welch (3 hits, triple, double) put Shea's within a run, making it 9-8. Murray would need another hold in the bottom of the sixth but it wasn't to be.

With two outs and a runner on first, the top of the order was up for Shamrock. In stepped Nate Ingalls (4 hits, 2 doubles, 3 runs scored) who came through with another hit and then scored on Ryan Black's single. Jack Schwartz then gave Shamrock more breathing room when he singled home a pair making it 12-8.

Pitcher Jason Marino was then tasked with getting three outs to grab the game one victory. The outs wouldn't come easy as Shea's rallied for four hits and two more runs before Marino and Shamrock closed it out, 12-10.

Game 2: Wednesday, August 19 @ 7:30pm

Shamrock Pub 6 - Shea's Tavern 10

Needing a victory to extend their season, Shea's Tavern delivered when it mattered most, riding a huge middle-inning offensive surge and some timely defensive work to knock off Shamrock Pub, 10-6, in a hard-fought playoff battle that evened their best of three series.

Thomas Fitzpatrick got the start for Shea's Tavern and weathered a Shamrock lineup that kept coming back. Jason Marino took the mound for Shamrock Pub in a game that featured plenty of big swings and several momentum-changing plays.

Shea's wasted little time getting on the board, pushing three runs across in the bottom of the first inning. The early attack put pressure on Marino and gave Fitzpatrick some breathing room. But the turning point came later in the third inning.

With Shea's already threatening, Alex Bergeron launched a three-run home run, the biggest blow of the game to that point. The towering shot cleared the bases and gave Shea's a 6-3 advantage. It was exactly the kind of swing a playoff team needs - one big hit turning a promising inning into a game-changing rally. However, Shamrock Pub refused to go quietly.

In the top of the fifth, Mike Saleski answered with a solo home run, cutting into the Shea's lead and keeping Shamrock within striking distance, 6-4. The Shamrock bats continued to threaten, and the game entered its decisive stages with Shea's clinging onto a 6-4 lead.

Then Shea's delivered the knockout punch in the bottom of the sixth inning, erupting for four runs. A costly Shamrock defensive error helped extend the inning, and Shea's took full advantage, stringing together enough offense to push the lead to 10-4. Ryan Wynns delivered the key double in the uprising.

Shamrock mounted one final charge in the seventh when Will Welch smashed a two-run home run trimming the deficit to 10-6. Suddenly, the tying run was back in the conversation - but Fitzpatrick and the Shea's defense closed it out before Shamrock could complete the comeback. When the final out was recorded, Shea's Tavern had survived a genuine playoff fight and lived to fight another day.

Justin Marino repeatedly reached with hard contact, including two doubles, helping fuel Shamrock's early and late pressure.

Game 3: Tuesday, August 25 @ 730pm

Shea's Tavern 8 - Shamrock Pub 9

With two outs and two runners on base, Shamrock Pub's Mike Saleski hit a three-run homerun in the bottom of the seventh to give his club a dramatic come from behind series ending win. It was another chapter in the book of M Street Classics. Before Saleski's dramatics, Shea's appeared to be on the verge of moving on in the playoffs.

Shamrock Pub struck first in the bottom of the first inning on RBI hits by Will Welch (2hits, 2 runs) and Ryan Black (3 hits, 2 RBI), 2-0. Their lead didn't last very long as Shea's Tavern answered the call in the top of the second when they sent eight batters to the plate and produced three runs, 3-2 Shea's Tavern.

Shamrock was held off the board in the second and then Shea's went back to work in the third. Again, they put traffic on the bases and were manufacturing runs - two more to be exact. However, Shamrock responded in the bottom of the third when Black and Welch came through again with clutch RBI hits that tied the game, 5-5.

In the top of the fourth, Shamrock's pitcher Jason Marino was looking for a clean inning but Shea's wouldn't oblige. Again, they sent eight batters to the plate and came away with three more runs to take an 8-5 lead.

Shea's pitcher, Thomas Fitzpatrick, was then tasked with shutting down the Shamrock offense. Through the next three innings he was nearly perfect - allowed just one hit and no runs. That performance put the pressure on Marino who answered by tossing three straight goose eggs too. Both pitchers were at their best in the later innings. Shea's was on top 8-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning.

In that frame, Jimmy Crowther led off with a single which gave the Shamrock faithful some life. An E5 was then commited which really turned up the heat on Fitzpatrick and the Shea's defense. With the tying run at the plate, Fitzpatrick produced a ground out which cut the runner down at second. We had runners on the corners with one out and Nate Ingalls standing at the plate. Ingalls lofted a ball to center field that was deep enough to score Crowther but probably not what Shamrock was hoping for as they were running out of outs, 8-6. Here's where the game turns.

Will Welch is standing on deck and asks the umpire to change balls. The umpire asks the pitcher, Fitzpatrick, for the game ball that's resting in his glove. After protesting for a minute, Fitzpatrick eventually tosses the ball to the ump and gets another one in return. Anyone watching could see the frustration on the pitcher's face. What he should have done at that moment was rub the ball up and then ask for a new one - the ump would have thrown him back the original ball. The old cat and mouse game. However, he went back to work with the "new" ball but was clearly off and threw four straight balls to walk Welch. We now had runners at first and second with two outs and Shea's ahead 8-6.

Mike Saleski steps in and flips the script when he drives the ball to center field - when the ball leaves the bat it was clear to me that it was not going to be caught and was deep enough to probably score both runners and tie the game. However, it skids away from the fielder when it touches down and Saleski raced around the bases as he never stopped running. It was a comeback win for the ages. Shamrock Pub advances to the semi-finals to take on the Silkworms.

Ghost Light Tavern 11 - 53 Movers 4

Ghost Light dropped their last two regular season games and were pretty much finished for the season. However, a couple of upsets on the last night of the season cracked the door open and boy did they jump at the sudden opportunity.

After throwing six innings of mini-game ball just thirty minutes earlier, Ghost Light's pitcher Cam Kelly took to the mound again with the pressure now fully on his shoulders. And again, Kelly delivered a masterful performance - allowing just two earned runs while scattering nine hits. He stayed out of the big inning which gave his team's offense time to get on track.

The game and outcome pivoted in the top of the fifth, when Ghost Light erupted for six runs to break a tie and pull away in this one, 10-4. Kelly, Sam McNulty (3 hits, HR, 2 RBI), and Charlie Coon delivered the key hits in the uprising. The "comeback kids" will now take on the top seeded Ochoa Brew Crew in a best of three quarter-final series.

As for the very confident 53 Movers squad - they were left wondering what just happened. How did they let this one get away? They had the arguably the best pitcher (Mike Capuzzo) in the division on the mound and had a very solid hitting lineup. It just wasn't to be as they went quietly in the 5th, 6th, and 7th (no runs scored). For one night, the results weren't in their favor and it cost them their season. Logan Gaddar (2 hits, HR, 2 RBI) was the lone hitting star for the Movers.

Shannon Tavern 9 - Seapoint Slammers 11

With his team trailing 9-8 in the bottom of the sixth, pitcher Pat Pickup tripled home a pair of runs to put Seapoint back on top in this very entertaining see-saw affair. Pickup was then tasked with nailing down the victory in the seventh and completed it with ease as Seapoint knocks out the very game worthy Shannon Tavern and advances to the quarter finals.

Blake Delisle led Seapoint's attack with three hits while Ray Brewer (2 hits, HR, 4 RBI) led the way for Shannon.

Roza Lyons 0 - Ghost Light Tavern 2

Pitcher Cam Kelly tossed a one-hit shutout and Ghost Light got RBI hits by Jack Hill and Charlie Coon to win their first mini-game (3 innings).

Ghost Light Tavern 5 - Shannon Tavern 6

Ghost Light carried a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the third and were three outs away from advancing when Shannon Tavern stole victory from the jaws of defeat. Dom DiSano tied the game with a two-run homerun and then Sean Moran won it with a solo blast. Mercy!

Prior to Moran's heroics, Sam McNulty had put Ghost Light ahead, 5-3, with a clutch homerun in the top of the third.

Shannon Tavern 4 - Roza Lyons 0

Pitcher Mark Scannell didn't allow a hit as Shannon Tavern (2-0) wins this one easily and will claim the 9th seed and face Seapoint in the single elimination game. Ghost Tavern (1-1) takes the 10th seed and will face 53 Movers in the other single elimination game. Sean Moran and Scannell provided the big hits (RBI doubles) in the top of the third.

Roza Lyons (0-2) needed a win to keep their season alive but for some unknown reason their offense totally dissapeared tonight. They only had one hit in the two games they played and no runs.
